The Urban Missions Training Course is a three-month training program on biblical principles about the meaning of true discipleship and the responsibility of making disciples of all nations, in the context of modern life in urban centres of the world.
This course will challenge you to go deeper in your relationship with God. You will gain an integral understanding of His kingdom, His plan, and your own role in it, identifying your gifts and calling so that you will be better equipped to take your place in fulfilling the Great Commission.
The UMTC runs from September to December in parallel with the lecture phase of our Discipleship Training School (DTS). It is designed to match its weekly topics, providing a taste of the contents of the DTS.
We know that life in Hong Kong can be busy, so with that in mind, we have designed this course to give you an experience of YWAM’s missions training, with lectures and the option to join hands-on experiential training and outreaches.
The course consists of 12 weeks with evening classes on Thursdays for two and a half hours.
The UMTC is part of the Extension Studies Program of the University of the Nations (UofN) – YWAM.
God’s plan has been unfolding through history; the waves of God crashed through the ages resonating to this day. God-inspired movements have reached entire regions through strategic communities, cities, ports, hubs; places we would call Gateway Cities.
As God continues to do this today in our modern world, like never before in history, the largest concentration of people is in urban centres, and entire communities and people groups are within the reach of our hands. Understanding God’s heart for these urban centres is crucial to be effective in reaching them with the gospel.
Encounter God like never before. This is your time to personally get to know Him more and His ways.

You will have the opportunity to…
• Put into practice what you are learning and receive hands-on training by serving at our ministry centre in weekly outreach activities and other seasonal events.
• Go deeper in the discipleship process by joining our missionary community for meals, fellowship, processing times, worship and intercession times integrated with our live-learn environment.

If you want to take it further, you can join our team on one of our international mission trips, for a week at the beginning of January 2025 in DaNang, Vietnam.
