We had the privilege to partner with YWAM Harbour City (YHC) in coordinating one of the outreaches for Chinese teams after the camp. This is what our friends at YHC shared with us:
We hosted 28 people from China for 2 days of outreach following the Gateway GPS Camp. Our goal during this time was to provide the teams an opportunity to practice many different kinds of evangelism and give them confidence in their ability to share the Gospel with people, even with those whom they've never met.
We had a great time reaching Hong Kong together! We did a couple open air outreaches with dance and drama, as well as spending time meeting people on the streets and sharing our faith.
Before one of our open air outreaches, one of the participants was very nervous about the performance. He took time to talk with God about it and God showed him that it wasn't about him, but it was about God, and to remember that he was doing what he did for God. After that he felt more courageous and was able to put his whole heart into his part of the performance. It was encouraging to hear how the participants developed personally by bringing their struggles to God!
At another of our outreaches a team member met someone who had never heard about Jesus before. He told us that he was very shocked and didn't know that there were still people in the world who did not know Jesus.
Many of the team members had very little experience sharing their faith and it was difficult for them, but they rose to the challenge admirably! It was really exciting to see the outreach goals being met. Whether sharing from a microphone or meeting strangers on the streets, it was an honor to work together with the body of Christ from China!
